Community Wellness and Support Programs

At The Open Doors, we are committed to fostering a resilient, healthy, and supportive community. Our Community Wellness and Supports program offers a comprehensive range of services designed to address mental health, crisis intervention, substance use, and overall well-being for individuals in our community.

Our Services

1. 24/7 Crisis Helplines

Our helplines provide round-the-clock support to clients, their family and friends, and professionals seeking assistance. We offer immediate help through:

  • Distress interventions
  • Over-the-phone support
  • Triaging services
  • Referrals for follow-up care

2. Community Helpers Program (CHP)

A community-based suicide prevention program funded through Alberta Health Services. We provide training to:

  • Enhance self-care skills
  • Develop skills to help others
  • Introduce participants to community helping professionals
  • Learn appropriate referral processes

3. Counselling Services

Our certified counsellors provide support for individuals aged 11-24, operating on a sliding scale. We offer:

  • Professional guidance
  • A compassionate listening ear
  • Support for various mental health concerns
  • A path to wellness and personal growth

4. Let’s Talk Series

An educational series designed to foster understanding and resilience in youth. Our modules focus on:

  • Suicide awareness
  • Mental well-being
  • Breaking the stigma around mental health
  • Navigating boundaries for healthy relationships

5. Harm Reduction Program

We provide strategies and supplies aimed at mitigating potential impacts of high-risk behaviour, including:

  • Naloxone training and kit distribution
  • Access to harm reduction supplies
  • Education on safer practices

Through this holistic approach, we aim to create a stronger, more informed community where individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered to seek help when needed, regardless of their circumstances.
